AYSO 190 (Sterling Hgts Soccer) is looking for volunteers willing to be trained as Referees. Anyone the age of 12 years and up can be a Team Referee. We have one last opportunity for referee training on Aug 26.
AYSO is a volunteer-run organization. Coaches, referees and administrators are volunteers. Many parents, neighbors, relatives and friends lend their time and talents so that each child gets a terrific AYSO experience.
AYSO's referee training is considered some of the best in the U.S.. Soccer knowledge is a plus, but is certainly not required. The AYSO referee training will give you all you need to know to have a terrific experience on the field.
Team Referees
Become a Team Referee. Over 90% of games are covered by a Team Referee. Team Referees are asked to officiate their team's home games. That translates to refereeing 1 game a week, which is well worth the time to ensure that your child has a fun, fair and safe game. Otherwise, if neither a neutral nor a team referee are available, your team's coach will have to referee.
Beginning referees will start with the youngest players, so you'll learn right along with them.
